In the special environment prepared for them in our schools, the children themselves found a sentence that expressed their inner need: "Help me to do it by myself!"
MATHEMATICS
Refine the intellectual through experience with order, measure, deduction, seeing relationship, exactness, etc. Encourage small group activity as well as individual work. Aid the child in the process of integration of body and mind through work, which moves form simple to complex, concentrates to abstract, whole body movement to hand. Assist the child.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Aid the child's adaptation to his/her particular culture. Encourage the child in self-expression and independence. Give opportunities for participation in work with small group. Aid the child in the recreation development: from listening, to repeating, to analysis of words, phrases and sentences, and then total expression. Assist the development of the "second language" of civilized man.
PRACTICAL LIFE
Assist holistic human development intellectually, physically, and socially. Assist the child's adaptation to his/her culture. Be the child's link between home and school. Give experience in the process of a natural work cycle. Encourage controlled, coordinated, and graceful movement of total body and fine hand. Be a fundamental preparation for all further work in the prepared environment. Following sequence of activity, developing a gradual expansion of concentration, practicing self-control, self-discipline and self- confidence, etc.
SENSORIAL
Refine sensory perceptions. Aid the child’s adaptation to wider environment of "universe." Continue the process of self-control through refined movements. Work towards abstract thinking and reasoning. Build towards an extended vocabulary. Practice fundamental preparation for further work in the environment, in such ways as extending work cycle, aiding associations from materials to world, preparing indirectly for mathematics, and encouraging work in small groups.
